Internationalization

Internationalization is an optional element of the qualification program. It gives doctoral candidates the opportunity to become active in the international scientific community and to strengthen the international profile of their doctoral project.

You may use this element, for example, for:

• an international conference contribution,

• a research stay abroad,

• an international workshop, summer school, or training format,

• another international academic activity related to your doctoral project.

Plan the activity early and discuss it with your supervisor. Please clarify the academic purpose, the expected benefit for your doctoral project, and possible funding before making binding travel or registration arrangements.

If you would like to apply for funding, check the current funding conditions before the activity takes place. Funding and reimbursement (Erstattung) usually require complete documentation and may have specific deadlines or formal requirements.

Keep suitable proof of your participation, such as a certificate, confirmation of attendance, conference program, invitation letter, or proof of presentation. These documents may be relevant when your qualification program is reported and confirmed (Bestätigung).
