Your Study Plan or Erasmus+ Learning Agreement

At TUM, Bachelor and Master programs are organized in modules. A module consists of one or more courses with aligned content and schedules. All TUM modules are identified by codes (module ID) relating to the study program or the School. The workload of each module is defined in ECTS credit points (CP). We expect you to take at least 60% of your workload from the course offer in the subject area physics.

The language of instruction is indicated in the module description. If "German and English" appears, the courses can be taught either in German or in English depending on the audience during the first lecture.

Before mobility

If you are going abroad through the Erasmus+ program, TUM uses the Online Learning Agreement (OLA). However, if your home university is not yet connected to EWP, you can still use the paper version of the learning agreement.

If you are going abroad through another program and need a signed version of your study plan, your Home University shall provide you with a template for that purpose.

You should draft your study plan or learning agreement around mid-July (for winter semester) or mid-February (for summer semester), because our study offer for a given semester is normally published before the previous lecture period ends. Following this advice, your study plan or learning agreement can normally be signed without major changes.

If you cannot wait until courses are announced, you should refer to the study offer of the previous year. As there are usually only minor changes between corresponding semesters, this can be a good approximation. However, you need to be aware that the study offer is always subject to change and not confirmed until it is announced for the semester of your stay. If necessary, you will be able to change your study plan or learning agreement after the semester has started, in agreement with your Home University.

For the TUM School of Natural Sciences and the exchange program in physics, the receiving responsible person for signing study plans and learning agreements is:

Dr. Eliza Gemel
International coordinator
incoming.ph@nat.tum.de

For a smooth processing of your study plan or learning agreement, please fill it out:

  1. Taking care that at least 60% of your workload (credits) is from the course offer in physics, our module IDs usually start with PH, NAT1, NAT3 or NAT5 (e.g. PH00000 or NAT30000).
  2. Indicating the TUM module ID as component code of each entry, and not the course number from TUMonline which is normally a ten-digit number
  3. Indicating the credit points (ECTS), and not the semester weekly hours

We do not expect exchange students in physics to take a given amount of credits. Please check with your Home University if they have a minimum requirement.

For learning agreements, the study field is in most cases defined by the ISCED code "0533 Physics".

During mobility

If you make changes to your courses during the mobility period, please make sure again that at least 60% of your workload (credits) is from the course offer in physics

For Erasmus+ students, you will have to update the OLA by using the part called "During Mobility". This section can only be filled out if your original OLA "Before the mobility" is complete and signed by you, your Home University and TUM.
