What comes after graduation? Many of our students ask themselves this question during their studies or shortly before graduation. Indeed, a master's degree in one of our programs provides a broad scientific education. During a doctoral program, there is an opportunity to further refine one's profile through general education courses at the TUM Graduate School. For employers, TUM graduates are particularly popular: According to the Global Employability Ranking 2024, TUM ranks 13th worldwide. This ranking is based on a survey of 11,000 managers from 21 countries who recruit personnel internationally. They work in various industries and companies of different sizes.
TUM supports students, alumni, and doctoral candidates throughout their lives in terms of job search, career entry, and career development in Germany and worldwide (TUM Career Service).
IKOM, a group of 100 student volunteers from TUM, organizes four career forums annually along with other free events aimed at fostering personal connections between students/graduates and companies.
You can find events and workshops of “Hochschulteam” of the Employment Agency Munich on the following page (in german only).
"So, what are you planning to do after your studies?"
Everyone has probably heard this question before. But what career paths are available after completing a chemistry degree? Which industries and job profiles align with my talents? What opportunities are open to me?
To answer these questions, the JCF Munich has launched the Alpenforum. Our goal is to give (PhD) students the chance to engage with our invited speakers from business and the chemical industry in a relaxed atmosphere, allowing them to exchange ideas and network.
Examples of Career Paths
Here, we would like to present concrete examples of career paths after studying at NAT. Based on a questionnaire, interviews with NAT graduates were conducted and are documented below. We hope that the personal insights in the interviews provide you with an understanding of how a career in various fields can develop after graduation.
